PEBI - Preview Emotes Badges Icons is the emote artists best friend ๐Ÿน๐Ÿ’–

The main purpose of PEBI is hot-reloading your drawing(s) while you draw them and show a preview in different sizes for Twitch, Discord or any size you desire.
You select a PNG or JPG file and PEBI will "watch" if the file has been changed. Then you can draw in any program like Adobe Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Microsoft Paint or any other program, save to the file you selected with PEBI and it will instantly update all previews.

It works on a single image or a tile sheet with and without borders.

PEBI is currently in BETA, so there will be bugs and/or missing features, please be aware of that.

Clip Studio Paint (CSP)

To speed up the export for example Vanlau created a custom shortcut. 
So you can instantly export the png.
Though export may take some time, the more layers you use, the slower the export can be.

BETA and development

PEBI is in BETA, please see it as an Early Access game with possible bugs and missing features.
PEBI comes with an auto-update checker and while PEBI can't update itself, it will inform you about new versions.

While we have a few more features planned and/or add them as we feel like it/have time for, PEBI has now all of it's base features and will be polished over time.

There is also an unlisted YouTube playlist as a lose devlog.



For everyone who bought PEBI, there is also a bleeding edge development version "pebi_development_build.zip" available which I upload for our testers.

The bleeding in bleeding edge is there for a reason. It might cut you, because it is in development and guaranteed to have bugs. One could call it the "nightly build" and while we definitely not recommend using it, the ones of you who feel adventurous can and should try it out and please report bugs back to us via twitter(dm's are open), in the comments or join our discord channel https://spielmannspiel.com/pebi-discord-support.

For everyone who does not feel THAT adventurous it is totally fin to wait till we  officially release a new version.

The demo

has some ad-messages in it, not unlike WinRar or SublimeText and might annoy you from time to time (we try to keep it civil). The instant copy to clipboard function will also have watermarks in it.
The Tile Sheet generator has also the PEBI-Watermarks on the final sheets.

Besides that, the demo is fully functional and feature complete.

Q: I draw on an iPad, does PEBI run on iOS?

A: No and since we do not own a Mac nor an iPhone nor an iPad we can't develop for it and there are no plans to do so.
you can use PEBI with your iPad.
Export a PNG to any cloud service, like Dropbox/Google Drive/etc and open the PNG on your PC with PEBI. This works surprisingly well and you get the benefit of 2 screens.

Q: I draw on a Mac, does PEBI run on MacOS?

BUT: If you have some sort of PC at your disposal, you could do the same like the iOS and Android user, use any cloud system (like dropbox, google drive etc.) to sync the exported file from your Mac to the PC, where PEBI will happily instant-load your changes.

Q: Whats the maximum image size PEBI can handle?

A: First of all: you RAM. PEBI has to load the image and in tile mode cut it into pieces and throw every piece into a fire... wrong song for writing this.
Anyway, PEBI is really efficient and if you don't run out of memory, these are the hard limits:

536848900pixel total (for transparent images)

Q: Does PEBI run on Linux?

A: NO, we initially supported Linux but with more features it sadly became too much work to stay supported. More information about this decision can be found here.

Q: Did you made PEBI in your own?

A: Yes

Well, it depends. We are all standing on the shoulders of giants (Update post 0.18) and we had a lot community feedback.
Did we made it? Yes. But we are not alone.

How do I update the software/program

The integrated updater just checks for updates.
Go here to itch, re-download the zip file (if you bought PEBI, you have to be logged in or use the download link you got when you bought PEBI to get the full version) and unpack it, like the first time. 

It is basically just a new file.

Are GIF previews for animated emotes planned at all?

I am not quite sure what you mean with "GIF previews". The preview for frame-animations is in PEBI since 0.18 but can also load GIFs since our latest update 0.19 (with mixed results I am afraid :/ ).

This tool has made exporting and previewing emotes so much easier! It's now a staple in my commission routine, thank you for this :) can't wait to test out the animator and GIF export features!

I just bought this and I'm sad because I'm a MACos user! But I'll keep it in my library for support and one day you guys can maybe...make it os friendly? *shy eyes*

If you have some sort of PC at your disposal, you could do the same like the iOS and Android user. Use any cloud system (like dropbox, google drive etc.) to sync the exported file from your Mac to the PC, where PEBI will happily instant-load your changes.

In absolute theory PEBI could run on MacOS (because I use .net 4 and mono runs, in theory, on MacOS).

But since I do not have a Mac at my disposal I can not test if / how / what has to be installed.

The PEBI demo is free so anyone can test it and if someone gets it to run on MacOS I surely will add a how to and needed files to support it!
(With the additional note that I can not test the Mac build on my own but it is tested to work ^^).

We were asked multiple times why we don't port our games to iOS or MacOS (few are on MacOS, some are on Android, none is on iOS) and it is because the cost to buy a Mac and the developer license and so on is too high and we won't make it back.

Just today dropped something that Apple does constantly and as an micro-inide we can not afford that.

Finally - an emote previewer that caters to me and my unnecessary large Emotes! 

11/10 works great!
